Whoops...

I wasn't even going to cast on for this...but it just happened.

Mscs

I got on Ravelry a bit ago to check out my queue. I had decided to start Orangina, I just needed to see what needle size it required. Next thing you know I am looking at the My So Called Scarf pattern again and wondering just how you do those stitches! I tried it about a year ago and just could not figure out what it was telling me to do. Irritated, I frogged what I had done so far and moved onto something else.  Well, I clicked around on Ravelry and found someone else who had thanked someone for posting a video on Youtube. *Gasp*

I watched the video. And there you go. Suddenly I am making a scarf. A scarf that I will not be able to wear until maybe November here.

The yarn is Malabrigo. Gifted to me by Fan. How great is she? Back when I was still in SF, I mentioned on here that i wanted some Malabrigo. She was at a yarn store and saw some yarn and thought, "Isn't that the yarn Stacey wanted?" and bought me some.  If only it was that easy to get everything I wanted.

Malabrigo, worsted weight. The color is pretty accurate, just not quite so bright.  The colorway is called Hummingbird. This will be known as the Wilco scarf now :)

I shouldn't be shopping...

I'm unemployed...I really shouldn't be spending much money. I've been looking at a few things online for a while now that I just couldn't bear to be without anymore.  Like this:

Emmelineapron400

I'd love to even do it in that print...but we'll see what I can find the next time I go to M & L Fabrics.

Considering how much baking I've done lately, this apron should come in handy. Last week it was oatmeal cookies and a pie. This week it's another pie and some apple bread. I've got a recipe for lemon cookies that I really want to try soon too.

Tilted Duster...

Ok, this is the best I can do. I wanted to get some better pictures, maybe outside, but then I thought better of it. Since I didn't have high hopes for this, I guess it met those expectations. I used yarn that I don't think is best suited for clothing, so  that's what you get.

It rolls up a lot at the bottom, and I doubt it would change with blocking so I'm not even going to bother. Since I'm just going to wear it around the house it doesn't matter to me.

Upclose_duster

My favorite part about this sweater is the off center button closure at the top. It likes to pull apart though and get all stretched out. But once again: I don't care because I'm just going to wear it around the house.

This may be the first time that there are no mistakes. Well, that I know of. The pattern is very well written. Very simple. Between this and the Central Park Hoodie, you realize, I feel invincible. I can make anything now. Except Monkeys apparently. I am still stuck on the first one.

Computer error...

I had a post all ready to go...and I guess I lost it. Hmmph. That hasn't happened in a while.

Well, lets see if I can briefly recap:

Today was the most productive day I've had since my time off. yay! I think it's finally sinking in. Inspired by a pie recipe I found online yesterday, I ventured out to the grocery store for ingredients. I had high hopes for this pie. I came home and made it right away.

030

So maybe it's not the prettiest pie with that big crack in it, but let me tell you. This pie was all I had hoped it would be. Goddamn it was good. Thank you Mary Heather for posting the recipe on your blog.

I also went on a cleaning/organizing spree starting with the bedroom closet.

026

During that spree I found Picovoli.

025

I've decided it must be frogged. I haven't worn it once. It's so ill fitting I can't believe I ever deluded myself into thinking it was salvageable. I still love the color, so I'm sure I can find another use.

Day 6...

Today I got up early while the sun was still rising and had coffee on my balcony. I did yoga before a little knitting on the couch while watching the early morning news. I then went and rode my bike along the beach enjoying the warm weather we've been having.

I'm hoping that bit of visualization there will help out tomorrow...'cause none of that happened today.

I had all these grand illusions of what my time off would be like. Getting things done around the apartment, always feeling well rested, crafting ALOT, reading some books, exploring the neighborhoods around me that I'm still unfamiliar with after 3 months.

None of them have come to fruition. Except maybe the feeling well rested part...but that was mostly due to that cold/fever thing I caught last week.

Too bad I didn't have dreams of spending hours upon hours on the computer, cause then I would have felt satisfied, like I was crossing stuff off my list. I've spent time perusing blogs, emailing and lets not forget Ravelry.

I can't decide what to start next. * I'm still working on getting through my stash, so all signs point to Orangina, since I already have Cotlin perfect for it. But Randy votes for Ms. Marigold. (That's right, I pulled Randy into this.) However, I don't think I have anything in my stash that is suited for Ms. Marigold. And I really don't want to buy any more yarn. Unless it's for a good cause :)

Randy's argument is that I could wear Ms. Marigold to work (when I get a job). He doesn't think Orangina is suitable for work. Understandable. For Randy, it's all about me getting a job. Soon. He knows if I make Ms. M I'll want to wear it. Maybe his visions of my time off include me sitting at the computer wearing Ms. Marigold while updating my resume.

Anyway...these are the difficult decisions I am making these days. Knitting patterns and yarn choices. Oh, the stress!

Send me productive vibes please. I need all the help I can get these days. I have turned into a total lazy bastard.

* I finished the Tilted Duster last week. I planned to have pictures by now but my photographer hasn't gotten home lately till it's been dark. Maybe I can get him to take a few on his lunch break tomorrow.

Day 4...

I think I may actually get around to doing something today.

I know that I was complaining on Monday about my lack of productivity, but now I wonder if my body knew the sickness was coming and was just trying to ease itself into it. Tuesday I woke up with a 101 fever. The past two days have been a blur of sleep, Kleenex, snacking and 80's movies. Dirty Dancing and Pretty in Pink to be more specific. Oh, how I love Blaine.

But I woke up today feeling much better and I've got a list of things to do.

First on the list, call my optometrist and find out where my glasses are. It's been nearly 3 weeks.

Second, make some calls pertaining to my taxes. I may need to rely on my refund if I don't have a job soon.

Thirdly, sew the buttons on my Tilted Duster. Pictures tomorrow.

A little mosaic fun...

Just wanted to test this out...

Mosaic1148377

A sock mosaic. Yay!

Thanks to Lolly who provided the info on how to do one of these months ago. Only now that I am without a job did I get around to it!

March 17, 2008

I just don't know how to just relax without guilt...

Today was my first real day of being unemployed. (This past weekend didn't really count in my mind since I had some obligations.)

What did I do?

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

I know, I should probably be fine with that, it's supposed to be a little vacation, but I didn't really feel good about it. I thought with this weight lifted off my shoulders I would have gotten a ton of shit done today. Nope. I got up late, hung out in my pajamas till, oh, 3pm, ate a bowl of cereal in there somewhere and here it is after 7pm. I have nothing to show for the day. Well, not nothing, but close to nothing.

My big accomplishment for the day was swiffering the floor. We no longer have little bits of shredded paper strewn around the apartment. Last week I cleaned out a a file folder and went on a shredding spree. I actually had to dump the shredding bin 3 times. I missed the trash can a few times and it looked like we had a ticker tape parade. But now, and only now that I am unemployed, is it gone.

How lazy am I?!

I may have gotten a bit closer to finishing the Tilted Duster. Maybe.

Goodbye..

There's been some good times, but I am done with you, work clothes.

That's right...I am freeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
