Quickie...

This is the current state of our apartment...

Christmas_07_043

so this is gonna be a quick post.

Christmas was fun, simple. I went down to spend a couple of days with Tracey since I couldn't make it all the way down to Orange County.

This was Christmas Eve, of course:

Oh, and some cranberry champagne stuff Tracey whipped up:

We exchanged a few gifts Christmas morning. I made her some gifts since she didn't want me to buy her anything. She got coasters with wedding pictures in them:

and I finally finished the house socks I was making for her.

Kevin wanted to be included in the picture...that's his foot there. These are just the Cable Twist Socks from Hello Yarn. They kick ass because they are stashbusters! I bought that yarn 3 years ago when I wanted to make a felted purse for Sarah but I didn't realize that it was superwash wool. It's been sitting around forever and I found a use for it! Yay! Thick stretchy wool slipper socks. Perfect. They'll replace the ugly purple ones I threw together for Tracey last year. (Seriously Trace, throw them away. They do not have mysterious healing powers like your sweatpants...or whatever it was you were telling me about.)

There was lots of knitting. The best part? I officially finished the Central Park Hoodie. I am quite happy with it. Pictures and more details in the next post (which may be a week or so from now). I am already planning for another one though. I loved the pattern that much.

Happy (late) Christmas! I'll write next from LA in '08!

Things I am longing for...

1. The chance to sit down and finish the numerous knitting projects I have going on right now. Grrr. I was doing so good at ONE AT A TIME. Then the holidays came.

2. 10pm tonight when I should get a chance at number 1 on the list.

3. Making cookies on Christmas Eve. Tracey doesn't know it, but if I get a chance, I am making cookies at her place. The only way this is getting bumped is if I get on a serious knitting roll and can't put down the needles.

4. Malabrigo. I've never owned any and now I must have it.

Lots happening...

Randy and I were in Los Angeles this past weekend apartment hunting. After a lot of online research, we looked at a handful of places. We took pictures to reference which place was which, which place had what amenities, etc. However, this is the best picture of the weekend:

Progress...

I wanted to take a picture to show the progress. Randy wanted to be in the picture too.

I'm very particular...

I must have a decent cheese to bread proportion on my grilled cheese sandwiches:

As planned...

Christmas finally made it's debut around this apartment.

The sheets are back on the bed.

There isn't going to be a tree this year because we are moving in less than a month, but I still needed the place to look a little festive.

Meme time

I owe Lara a meme. She tagged me over a month ago.  You know the one...8 random things about me. Or is it 7? Whatever. Here it goes:

1. I am big on tracking progress. For example, when I read books I always find the page that I started at that day, mark it with my finger, put the bookmark in where I left off that day and see how much I read. An 1/8 inch or a 1/4 inch. Maybe a 1/2 inch if it was a good day.

2. Same with knitting. Current example, the Central Park Hoodie. I like to see how many cables along I got or how many inches I did. I'm very concerned with how much progress I've made.

3. I love that I have a twin. If someone finds out I have a sister I secretly hope that they ask how old she is just so I can respond with "She's the same age." I don't know why I don't just say "Yes, I have a sister. We are twins." I guess that's just not as fun.

4. If it is late at night and I have to get up early the next morning, I don't like to know what time it is when I go to bed. For example, I sometimes make Randy set my alarm clock so I won't see the current time. I will sometimes also turn the clock around so I don't accidentally look at it. Half of my being tired is being able to put a number to the hours of sleep I got even though sometimes I have felt more rested with 3 hours than 6. Does that make sense?

5. I am a list maker. On my days off I almost always have a to-do list. I usually only check off half of it but it helps me organize and prioritize. Otherwise I would probably just sit and knit on the couch all day while watching television.

6. My writing is horrendous, cursive and printing. Randy thought it was so bad he bought me one of those children's books where you write letters and words over and over again. It has helped.

7. While I know this makes me seem a little crazy, I start listening to Christmas music intermittently around August.

8. When Tracey and I were teenagers we got in a fight once where we chased each other around the house. I ran into the bathroom so seek refuge (being the only room in the house that has a door that locks), I didn't manage to shut the door in time. There was a lot of pushing and pulling of the door. We ripped the door off it's hinges.

Phew. That was difficult. Not so much coming up with random stuff, but the deciding how much crazy to reveal.

Sorry for the wait, Lara. Because I know you were. like, checking my blog every day to see if  I had followed through  ;)

What to do?!

Today is the first of three consecutive days off from work. And the best part? I have no plans. None. No obligations whatsoever.

It's only 10am and I already have a few rows of the Central Park hood under my belt. Fabulous.

I see sewing, lots of knitting and Christmas cookie baking in the near future.

So excited.

One of the cutest babies...

Ok, so I'm a little biased because he's decked out in goods I provided for him, but still. How cute is little Nathan?

Nathan4_049

There he is, wearing the cute little polo onesie I got for him and propped up against the blanket I made.

And then Brenda sent me this one today:

Eeeeee!!! Cute baby! Little robots! It's too much! I can't stand it!

As soon as Randy gets his first paycheck I'm booking a flight to go see him.
